Request

The new Classic Rock Magazine is out (February 2007 issue) and I'd really like a copy, but haven't been able to track one down. The website is already sold out.

According to TBL: The February issue of Classic Rock on sale from January 10 features an in depth look at what Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones have done after John Bonham’s death. Titled “Life After Led Zeppelin” the magazine features a cover shot of Plant and excellent feature by Mick Wall.

If anyone can find a copy for me, leave a comment or send me an email. I'm going to look again tonight.

Late Update: Laura came through for me... she ordered a copy through eBay. So you can all suspend your frantic searches.Posted by Picasa

Olbermann Jumps on Fox Promo

Check the link for Keith Olbermann's take on FNC's new promotional ad, touting themselves as the only ones not to bring "the usual left-wing bias" to viewers.

Republican Spin, Revisionism of Recent History

From Josh Marshall's Talking Points Memo:

It's nice to see the GOP surrogates are doing a little pre-State of the Union warm-up by spouting a new crop of ridiculous lies and comical rewritings of history.

Here for instance is serial bamboozler and former RNC Chair Ed Gillespie just moments ago on MSNBC waxing poetic about President Bush's plan to balance the budget by 2012 and claiming that the last time the budget was balanced was in 1998.

Unlike the more established Republican tradition of chat show lying, I'm not even sure what it is this goof is trying to hang his hat on with this whopper. Back on planet earth we know that the budget became balanced during the Clinton presidency and remained in balance until he left office in 2001.

According to this October 24th, 2000 article at CNN.com, the 1999 budget surplus was $69.2 billion; 1999 was $124.4 billion; and 2000 was $237 billion.

President Bush oversaw the return to massive deficits.

So really what Gillespie should have said was that it was great that President Bush is considering balancing the budget since that hasn't happened since he became president after there had been three consecutive years of budget surprluses and plunged the country right back into deficits. But when you hear how that sounds I guess I can understand why he just decided to lie instead.

The Epitome of Style

Turck and I in the Yahner basement for the Salvation Army Attire festivities.

And just because I can never get enough of Turck in this wig, here's another picture -

A better quality and more complete video from the second show that Turck and I attended in Toronto last year.

Robert Plant with Pearl Jam - Going to California, Little Sister, Money

Video from the House of Blues in Chicago - October 5, 2005.

Robert plays GTC with the Strange Sensation's Justin Adams and Skin Tyson with PJ watching onstage. Adams and Tyson then leave Plant to front Pearl Jam with Eddie Vedder for Little Sister and Money. Great stuff!

Fool in the Rain - Plant and Pearl Jam Audio

I know I posted the video for this in late 2005, but this is a better version of the audio, courtesy Sessions.

The link is to Robert Plant performing Led Zeppelin's "Fool in the Rain" from In Through the Out Door (1979) with Pearl Jam. Plant and Vedder alternate on the vocals. The song had never been performed by Led Zeppelin, nor had it been performed by any of the former members of the band in their solo outings.

This comes from the Katrina Benefit show on October 5, 2005 at Chicago's House of Blues.

Laura did a double-take when she saw these pictures of Bruce taking aim. Then she came out with this gem - "He looks like Cupid gone wrong..." Pretty much.

Bruce = Red Nightmare

Turck and Lindsay

Paul's cousin Mark (wearing a hat-washing device...this got passed around a lot during the night), with Paul and Steve.

I took a lot of pictures of Bruce because his attire was like a horrible traffic accident from which I couldn't look away. I love this shot.

Weird Visions

Turns out I can upload pictures from the 'Salvation Army' party after all... Laura's computer has an SD-card input. Enjoy....

Turck's blue and gold was a nice touch. Perhaps a nod to Falconer pride? I almost picked up those baby-blue pants for my outfit.

Biz looked like some sort of cowboy retiree, Steve was a kind of Pacific Island pimp, and no one knows what Bruce was really going for.

Paul enjoyed wearing his Hawaiian shirt/overalls combination until it was time to relieve himself, whereupon there was some confusion as to the proper way to extricate himself.
