As most all of you who might care doubtless already know, Billy Corgan announced a while ago that The Smashing Pumpkins would be reformed/resurrected, although the personnel involved were not clear other than Corgan and drummer Jimmy Chamberlain. Melissa Auf Der Maur (who replaced original member D'Arcy Wretzky) has not been confirmed in the bassist slot, though she has notified Billy she would be willing to return. No word on whether James Iha, last seen on tour with a perfect circle, would be coming back.
There are recent rumors that Auf Der Maur may have some competition from former Jane's Addiction member Eric Avery.
