More Right-Wing Extremism and Stupidity
Many of you have heard about this absurd 'controversy' over SpongeBob. This is an editorial by Maureen Dowd of the Times that is obviously written by a person with some sanity.

Surprisingly I have not yet heard of the SpongeBob controversy. However, from what I gathered from the editorial, there is concern that SpongeBob is gay. Ummm...does anyone remember the Bert and Ernie controversy? Come on. The issue of characters in children's shows being gay has been around for ages. So why the big deal now? The purple Teletubby is gay, and that's okay...perhaps because it's a British show? Anyhow, I know that was not really the point of the editorial or the post. I do have to say though that I am not one for politics, but the relation of a favorite TV show to some political issues and figures helped me to at least try to understand some things. I think someone could make some good money writing about politics in a way that immature, uninformed people like myself could understand.
